Divorced Martin (Marty) Allen Salisbury (Class of 1966) in 1980

Banking Career 1970 - 1993
1989 started as an Independent Beauty Consultant with Mary Kay Cosmetics. Became an Independent Sales Director in 1993. Retired Directorship in 2014. Today, October 20, 2018, I remain self-employed as an Independent Beauty Consultant, servicing and consulting hundreds of customers on skin care and color cosmetic application techniques. Our team has earned me the use of 10 automobiles during the past 20 years. :-) Thankfully only one of the automobiles were PINK!
October 2009, Don (at the age of 70) purchased a small Beef jerky Distribution Company. As of October 2018, we have grown from 67 convenient stores to just under 300, that WE service every 4-6 weeks. We carry Tillamook Country Smoker Beef Jerky and Werner Gourmet Snacks. Both purchased monthly from Oregon. A FedEx semi truck delivers to our warehouse. Don and I work about 15 days and then take a couple weeks to travel. My favorite part of our employment is the recordkeeping and accounting. This business gave us a reason to rise in the AM. We closed the business December 2021.
Don and I enjoy our time off traveling via the automobile. We love New Mexico and Colorado.
2023 in February we drove to Venice, FL to visit my Aunt and Brother, Scott. During August we went to Waterloo, Iowa then spent a few days with Don's son and daughter-in-law in Cedar Rapids. Stopped by Don's sister in Augusta, KS on way home.
Together we have six children living in Iowa, Utah, New Jersey and Texas. Two grandchildren that we know, ages 14 and 26.
In August of 2017 our Grandson, William Hunter Brannon, was involved in a tragic boating accident. The hardest thing I have had to watch in my entire life is - my Daughter, Michelle, losing her son. It is very difficult for a Mother to see her child in pain knowing there is nothing she can do or say to comfort the child.
June 2022 - Don had his right hip replaced. Dr. said he was a "Super Star" building a new retaining wall eight weeks later
September of 2022 I was diagnosed with CLL (Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia). Taking oral chemo twice a day with checkups every six weeks. I have a strong faith and a very positive attitude. I relate CLL to diabetes, many people live with diabetes for years. You just have to manage your disease. CLL will never go away. I will manage CLL till I join Our Heavenly Father.
November 2023 my Oncologist confirmed oral chemo I had been taking for 15 months was not doing what he wanted it to do. Pill free in November and started plan "B" in December. Actually to look at me you can't tell anything is wrong and with this new treatment plan I am having no side affects. Praise the Lord.
Many years ago I was told "Sharon, all you do is work. You need to have some hobbies". I do not golf, bowl, enjoy reading, drawing, painting, watch birds, training squirrels, or have small grandchildren to watch. I can sew, knit and crochet, although I no longer have the desire to do so. Since December of 2021 many friends have been showing me how many words I do not know on Words with Friends. Recently realizing I have been spending too much time in a chair & playing games - therefore, in December of 2021 I started a part-time job at our local pharmacy. So far, so good. Probably 20 hours a week, Gets me up and out. Only time will tell if my energy level and immune system will agree. God is Good. I guess my hobby has always been "WORKING".
June 2023 - Quit the pharmacy. Not worth the frustration of working with the younger generation and listening to all their problems and how they have been miss treated. Half of them you attempt to hire can't pass a simple drug test.
May 2023 - I started working jigsaw puzzles. Ravensburger large pieces is my favorite. Currently on my sixth puzzle. Don suggested instead of tearing them apart and putting them back it their box, put adhesive on back with foam stickies and mount them to a 24' wall in garage. They look great. My own personal puzzle hobby show.
January 2024 - Currently have 16 puzzles on garage wall. My daughter-in-law took a picture of Don and I on one of our trips many years ago and had it made into a puzzle for Christmas. VERY DIFFICULT. It is on my Facebook page at the top. Lots of rocks.
May 2024 - Looking forward to our reunion mid October. God Bless you and God Bless the USA.
June 9, 2024 - Oncologist said CLL cancer is in hibernation. Only our Heavenly Father knows when it will return. I shall not worry.
